Description
The WDT (Weiss Distribution Tool) was designed to improve the extraction quality of espressos by breaking up clumps in dry grounds before tamping. The WDT is named after John Weiss, who developed this technique in 2005 to compensate for poor grinds produced by entry-level grinders.
More recently, its use has also expanded to filter coffee. The grounds are stirred during pre-infusion, which helps reduce channeling.
